About Our Classes at Sama

At Sama, we believe that yoga is for every body, age and ability: Everyone can benefit from a yoga practice. That’s why we offer an array of styles and instructors who work with you to help you find your best practice. Some days you may want a slower pace and opt for one of our Gentle classes. Another day, you might want to get sweaty, and go for a classic Vinyasa, flow-style class.  If chanting is your thing, try Kundalini.  For an intense experience focusing in on isolating and igniting specific muscles, try Alignment.  Hold postures longer in our Yin Flow class to release the powerful fascia tissue. Open Level classes are open to all, and are a great way to receive the benefits of yoga, including breath work, postures, alignment and flow. 

 

Yoga is a strategy for overall health, well-being and joy, on and off the mat.  Regardless of your experience, body-type, age or ability, Sama Yoga welcomes you. Expect impeccable teaching, attitude and support for you and your family at Sama.

Open Level: Open to all levels. Refinements are offered for the seasoned student as well as the beginner. Breath work, foundations, flow, meditation and restoratives. We adjust to the seasons and to each individual’s needs. Levels 1/2/3

Vinyasa: With specific attention to breath work and alignment, this moderate to vigorous class builds endurance, stamina and elevates heart rate. Levels 2/3

Beginner/Gentle: Learn the basics of yoga in a supportive environment. Includes breath work, alignment and a warm approach to gain stability, flexibility, and peace of mind. Levels 1/2/3

Gentle: Enjoy the benefits of mindful movement at a sweet, slower pace. A perfect class for beginners, pre-natal students or those looking for a gentle, quiet respite. Levels 1/2/3

Gentle with Restorative: Enjoy the benefits of mindful movement with the added benefits of restorative poses.  A perfect class for beginners, pre-natal students or those looking to balance sleep patterns, decrease stress levels and enhance their mood. Levels 1/2/3

Samayoga99Flow & Restore: Warm up and cool down in this all-levels practice. Alignment, movement, meditation and breath work offered. Let go of your week and restore into your weekend. Levels 1/2/3

Alignment: Isolate areas of the body with specificity to free breath and body. Perfect for anatomy geeks and anyone interested in the human form. Take what you learn into life and other classes for increased benefits. Levels 2/3.

Open Level with Sound Bath: Learn specific alignment, breath work and meditation techniques to open tight areas, increase overall well being and deepen our capacity for rest. Enjoy soothing sound bath to round out your evening. Great for date night or girls night out! Levels 1/2/3

OM Yoga: A flow class that emphasizes alignment, and meditation as the path to developing clarity, stability, and strength in body and mind. From the lineage of Yoga Master Cyndi Lee, come meditate through movement and build poses from the ground up. Levels 1/2/3

Yin Flow: Yin Yoga invites us to hold postures to stimulate the body’s connective tissue and create a greater flexibility. A perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat and incredibly beneficial to those with tighter forms.  Levels 1/2/3

Family Fun

Intro to Kundalini Yoga: Learn pranayama (breath work), asanas (poses), mudras (hand gestures) and mantras (chanting silently or aloud) which encourage spiritual awareness and self-healing. Kundalini can be practiced by everyone regardless or age, physical ability or experience with yoga. Levels 1/2/3

Family Yoga: Yoga postures, meditation and stress reduction for the entire family.  Share the benefits of yoga with your family and have fun!  Levels 1/2/3

Meditation: Led by Community Mindfulness Project, whose mission is to offer mindfulness and heart-opening practices to help manage stress, improve focus and enhance mental and physical health. Programs are secular and all are welcome, on a regular or drop-in basis. Donations welcome. Community Mindfulness Project is led by Will Heins, Erika Long, Nick and Michelle Seaver.
